- This is Mongolia’s fourth report in the four years since it joined EITI – a perfect score for regularity.
- It gives a helpful overview of the mining and oil sectors, including production statistics and information on the importance of mineral resources to the national economy.
- The report contains data from twice as many companies as were included in the 2008 report.
- It assesses each company and government agency’s willingness to participate in the reporting process.
- The report, including appendices, is over 500 pages long. While it contains useful details on the causes of discrepancies and recommendations for improved reporting, much of the information is repetitive and could be more effectively presented in summary tables.
- Diagrams show revenue flows to individual government agencies, including sub-national and local government entities.
- There are several arithmetic errors in the company-by-company data tables.
